The Dallas Morning News recently had a short blurb about 7-Eleven's new website dedicated to the Slurpee.
The History of the Slurpee reveals that in fact the Slurpee is related to the Icee, which I vaguely remember seeing at K-mart. Do Icee machines still exist? Hey, I'd like to have a small one- or two-flavor Slurpee/Icee machine, so let me know if you come across one.
I really don't understand why we need more flavors that the original Coke flavor. Personally, I could live the rest of my life with just Coke Slurpees. 'Suicice' Slurpees using bubblegum or diet flavors are an abomination.
The site also has Slurpee gear for sale. You can skip to it here. Nothing really grabbed my interest. They're also offering free music downloads, but it didn't work with Mozilla (not to mention problems posting here on Blogspot with Mozilla).
Did you catch the news stories about Kerry's bicycles? While Bush has a fairly nice Trek ride, elitist, higher taxes boy has two extravagant road superbikes by this company Serotta that I hadn't heard of before. Evidently, his Ottrott is over $8000. Web opinion has it that it's probably owned by the wife's trust, just like the SUVs.
Speaking of heiress #2, when is the media going to talk about how her pre-Heinz fortune? She was pretty well-off before marrying the rich tomato-exploiting American. I'm curious about her Mozambique family, their closet skeletons, and all the Africans they've exploited over the years.

Good news. My letter to the editors at the Dallas Morning News regarding property taxes has been selected for publication in the next 10 days. I guess I'll go ahead and paste it here for pre-consumption. Noone's reading this blog anyhow :)
It never ceases to amaze me how the mass media consistently fails to
'connect the dots'. Take for instance your recent editorial lambasting
Grover Norquist for his laudable stand against new taxes, even for Texas
schools. Including your recent front page story on protesting property
tax increases, how many stories on increasing property taxes in the
Dallas area have you published in the past few years? Indeed, I just
visited the Dallas Central Appraisal District web site
(www.dallascad.org), constructed five random names, and calculated
their percentage increase in ISD taxes since 1998. The average was 41%,
and I encourage your readers to repeat this experiment. What do we have
to show for this increased revenue over the past 5 years? Better
schools? In Grover's World, noone is against providing better resources
for our public schools. But we are against the squandering of OUR money
by politicians, bureaucrats, and school board officials.
On another note, I finally broke down and wrote that letter to MI-5 that I have been pondering for over a year now. You see, I've effectively 'Teller'ed a guy I knew at Lancaster University when I was on my junior year abroad back in '93-94. Perhaps I'll post the letter in the coming days. To summarize: really smart British Muslim of Yemeni origin (who evidently has left the UK) could be potentially dangerous if he became disaffected with Western Civilization (aka Euro-american democracy). Yeah yeah yeah... doesn't make you feel good, but sometimes necessary actions are distasteful.
Lastly, I was listening Music for the Masses on the way home in the VW today. Two of the three things I regret from freshman year of high school: not going to MFTM Depeche Mode show here in Dallas and missing the Joshua Tree tour in Ft. Worth. Stupid stupid stupid. But on a plus side, MFTM still sounds kick-ass, so long as you blast it and the bass is good. Otherwise it can sound a bit stale. I need to get it and 101 on CD. It's time for a trip to Recycled Book and Records in Denton.

Welcome to my blog. I guess I'm a bit behind the times, since blogs have been pretty hot for many months now. My recent introduction to RSS aggregators (SharpReader in particular) has motivated me to start documenting all these crazy rantings that are constantly rattling around inside in my head.
As you can tell from the title of this blog, you sure can expect some really caustic (but I hope also thought-provoking) commentary on these interesting times. What's a touron? It's a cross between a tourist and a moron. It's someone in an alien situation who complicates matters by making a stupid decision. We'll meet alot of tourons around here, but let's not restrict ourselves to just that. Anything's fair game!
